Q: What is the price per square foot to build a house?
A: Due to the incredible number of house plans and customization choices in the market today, it is relatively impossible to give an exact quote without reviewing the plans. Prices can vary from thousands to tens of thousands of dollars depending upon a number of factors such as roof-line, layout, exterior materials (brick vs. vinyl), floor types, etc. As a custom-home builder, we build according to the customers specifications. Unlike track home builders that only offer a limited number of selections in any given area, each home built by Metrolina Construction, Inc. is completely unique. If you'd like a quote on a house plan, please call our office for a FREE consultation. We'll review your plans with you and discuss the customizations available and their costs.
Q: Do I have to pick from one of your plans to build?
A: No. Metrolina has a large selection of plans from which to choose, but we also welcome you to bring your plans for us to build.
Q: Am I required to buy one of your lots on which to build my new home?
A: No. Metrolina will build on your land or help you find land that will meet your needs.
Q: Do you offer any kind of financing?
A: No. Metrolina will help you find a lender that can work with your budget.
Q: Is a brick house more economical than a vinyl siding house?
A: Not necessarily. All-brick houses will hold and/or increase in their value in the common-day market, but developing technological trends are producing exterior and interior materials that help with energy conservation and can, therefore, be more cost-effective.
Q: I have a friend or family member that is a ______ (plumber, tile installer, etc.). Can I use this person to save on some of the costs of building my home?
A: Some areas of construction require that the person doing the labor be licensed by that state (i.e. - plumber, electrician, mechanical). If your relative is a licensed contractor, then yes, it is possible for him/her to be used in the building of your home. Metrolina uses only the highest quality contractors on our homes. We also work to get the lowest price possible on the construction of your home. Keep in mind that the "cheapest" labor is not always the best choice, especially in the construction of your new home.
Q: Do you offer any kind of warranty?
A: Metrolina offers a one-year builder's warranty (please contact us for a copy). Extended warranties can be purchased through the warranty company of your choice.
Q: How long will it take to build my house?
A: Generally, most houses under 2400 ft2 can be built within 3 - 6 months, but a number of factors can prolong that period. Things such as weather, inspections, certain customizations or special orders can cause delays.
